CORDA goes gold!
In December Corda succeeded in winning a coveted Chairman's Gold Award, which was presented at a ceremony held in Washington. Suzanne Harrison (nominator), Chris Watson, Mark Ng, Martyn Cubitt and Steve Pretty were nominated for 'Business and Solutions Modelling - Best Practice Transfer to BAE Systems Inc.' in the 'Transferring Best Practice' category.
In February 2008, the CORDA team, in combination with economic modellers from Military Air Solutions, supported BAE Systems Inc. (the US division of BAE Systems) on the T45 Goshawk proposal, which was later followed with support on their Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOFSA) bid. The work added significant weight to the bids and the subsequent adoption in the US was recognised by the award panel.
The Awards Ceremony itself was held in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC on Thursday 4th December, and was hosted by BAE Systems Chairman Dick Olver and American comedian Wayne Cotter. Six Golds were awarded from over 3,800 initial Chairman's Awards nominations, having progressed through the Bronze and Silver stages over the course of the year.
The Chairman's Awards is a scheme which recognises employees' achievements in the fields of 'Innovation', 'Enhancing Customer Performance' and 'Transferring Best Practice' and it is up to employees to nominate projects for the awards in one of these three categories. It is then decided by a number of panels which of these nominations go through to win Bronze, Silver and, finally, Gold Awards. As well as the Gold, CORDA achieved seven Bronze Awards and two Silver Awards in the 2008 Chairman's Awards - a record achievement.
